BCI is pleased to welcome Michael Garnes, President of Next Level Executive Search (NLES) to the BCI President's Advisory Council. IOWA CITY, IA. , November 2013

Basketball Club International is thrilled to welcome former basketball pro Kelly McCarty to our board of directors. His unique experience as an international player will benefit BCI Loop and other player-driven program components, along with the mission and vision of the BCI organization. Originally from Chicago, this 6'7" and 235 lb. guard-forward led his team at the University of Southern Mississippi in scoring and rebounding during his senior year, 1997-98.

IOWA CITY, IA. - October, 2013

We are pleased to announce that Columbus T. Smith Jr., current chaplain for the Minnesota Timberwolves, will be joining BCI as the Fraternity Facilitator and Chaplain for BCI Loop. When Columbus T. Smith Jr. works with a group of professional basketball players, he's keenly aware of just how hard it can be to keep the attention of any active, distracte-but-seeking young man.  But as a chaplain for the Minnesota Timberwolves for 13 seasons, a volunteer chapel service provider at the Hennepin County Adult corrections facility for 25 years, and a volunteer tutor and mentor to "at risk" students, Smith enjoys the unique and varied challenges of his calling.  Read more

LOS ANGELES, CA. Aug 22, 2011

BCI’s Basketball Plus Camp in Los Angeles on August 20 was a great success. Campers were inspired by our coaches and special guests, including pro player Jelani Gardner who said, “It was a real honor to help the kids and honor Sharm at the same time. It was a real Blessing to be around like-hearted people who love God. Everyone I met was so positive and supportive, I was really blown away. I could feel His hand upon the day.”

Krieger - Scheuerman's Dash Full of Faith The last time I saw Sharm Scheuerman was Aug. 23, a week before he died. He was lying in a hospital bed in the middle of his living room, high above Lower Downtown.

    DENVER, Colo. Aug 31, 2010

Sharm Scheuerman, a member of the 1954-56 University of Iowa Hawkeyes basketball “Fab
    Five,”
and who became the youngest head basketball coach in NCAA Division I history at the
age of 24, died yesterday. He was 76 years old.

    DENVER, Colo. May 8, 2010

Krieger - Hoops man Scheuerman has faith to make it count At the height of his chemotherapy, Sharm Scheuerman couldn't spread the word about faith or basketball, pretty much his two favorite things. So he quit the medicine. The cancer was already in his bones. The prognosis wasn't good.

    DENVER, Colo. March 2010

Basketball Club International is pleased to welcome two new board members, both with outstanding character and accomplishments: Mike Wilks and John Johnson.
